Trouble in Paradise, quadtych, 2014, oil on board, 72 x 72

My work is inspired by things that l travel by daily. Well maintained lots and acreage yield to plethora s of trash and abandoned vehicles.

This is the subject matter l am most drawn to paint. l see intrigue and mystery in the poor stray dogs and also the goats that are both a pet and a food supply. This subject matter drives my subconscious to see things on the canvas that perhaps would only appear as a minuscule germ to the actual eye. By onsciously letting go of the “expected” l become the vehicle by which the paint demands these thoughts to declare their intentions.

My current work is comprised of oil on canvas and board. l try not to use the same color twice. This forces me to use colors in a different way. The juxtaposition of colors, intensity, and values, speak to me. l am not married to a color theory or a particular style of painting or loyal to any one medium. l use what l need.
